Hi
Joseph
Nice to see things are looking
up. Not sure about "chavscum" (21st
November) - certainly makes me uncomfortable. Hearing
it used in Sheffield, looking at their website, I'm
left feeling that there's a fine line between affectionate
humorous banter on the one hand and sneering at the
culture of others on the other hand. I've just been
reading 'A little book on the Human Shadow' by Robert
Bly which seems to throw some light (excuse the pun)
on the whole thing.
Ho humm - I really must write my lesson plans for
the Ofsted lessons tomorrow.

Hello hello!!
Thanks for you message!
... the photo… I think kathryn
took that one whilst I was busy dancing like a monkey.
ah, yes, so you found The
Daily Mumble eh (or was it just the photo albums)?
I wouldn’t go reading
that if I were you… dangerous stuff. tends to
involve quite a lot of truth. rather bizarrely I find
it a little disconcerting when people I know find it,
as it’s private you know (quite how I can say
that when I publish it on the www I’m not sure!).
ah, yes, my underwear, yes,
I wouldn’t say
that rocking around with a vacuum is a regular occurrence,
but well, life’s for living, deshou…
anyway, I must get on with the kanji, they are dying
to get out of the book and into my brain. See you sooooooon
jaaa ne bai bai!

Hello from Tokyo, Joseph. Long time, no see. ;-) Tito and I are still here and
I'm still at OBC. Things have changed quite a bit since you spent your busy season
here. I can't recall if you were here before or after it was sold to a new owner.
The office was moved to Kudanshita (a real craphole compared to Shinjuku) and
business has been steadily dropping each year. Anyway, I'm glad to hear things
seem to be going well for you. If you make it back here before we (Tito and I)
finally pack things in and head home, you can embarrass us with your superior
Japanese ability.
Best wishes,
Shari

Hello hello!
Great to hear from you! So you’re
still in Tokyo eh? I’m hoping to come over next
summer for a month or two, otherwise I won’t be
touching down at Narita until summer 2006 when my year
abroad (in a Tokyo university) starts. Finances are stretched
as I went bankrupt last april having racked up about
US$30,000 of debt! Still, living on a nice tight budget
now, and have so far managed to save about USD$800 which
is enough for the airfare for starters. So yes, hope
to see you then!!
Where’s Mr. Darryl these days? I’ve
not heard from him in a while.
Well, anyway, study of the Kanji started yesterday,
so I really must get on and drive myself mad by drawing
lots of little symbols and attempting to remember the
3000 different readings each one has!
Take care
Joseph

guys! Yes, it was really great wasn't it - quite surreal
seeing so many great friends after such a long time!
I wasn't feeling terribly photographic that night so
the photos are limited to the few found here.
I thought that those skits were absoltely
fantastic - so much so that I requested the transcripts
from Billy.
All in all a wonderful event, celebrating
something that we all should feel justly proud of.

Hi Jo[s]e[ph]
Hope all is well with you and your family.
Just droping you a note to
let you know that Jason "Wilf
to his friends online" arrived in Bangkok and
safely navigated his way through the airport scam artist.
He paid £20 to get his head down in some posh
hotel and says Bangkok is 1 big shhhh Hole, he can't
wait to get out of the city, but I guess all cities
have the same appeal :P
My wife Jude and I went on to London for the day after
droping him at Heathrow. We were amazed at how efficient
the underground network is and at how very few english
people are actually in London, so I guess its quite
simmilar to Bangkok in many ways. Someone said take
all the foreigners and nutters out of london and there
won'w be anyone left there.
We did see "the Old Woman,
who walk's the streets of London and she did have
her home in two plastic bags, as she rummaged for
food in the underground rubbish bins. Made us both
stop and think for sure!
Your site, as always, is a breath of fresh air Joe
and may your next journey prove to be as fascinating
as the memories you share with us on here.

I ran into this site by accident at work here in downtown Atlanta. The site looks
interesting and I will pull some pages out to learn more about you, "Tame" and
the section of England that fills most of these pages, I suppose. It looks very
nice and I should learn something about young people in England and what your
world is up to.
Here, my little "cottage" near
the ocean in Panama City Beach, Fla., manage to dodge
the four hurricanes that have hit Florida in the last
two months. I've had a new bath and kitchen built into
the place and even the roof top deck missed getting
blown away. Panama City Beach is known as the "Red
Neck" Riveria in the Deep South. But it has some
very white sand and pretty green blue ocean. It's near
Pensacola, Florida where all the U.S. Navy pilots train
who fly off aircraft carriers. You may know that Georgia
is known as the "Peach State" in the USA. But South Carolina actually
produces many more peaches than Georgia. I'm not from South Carolina but that
is a fact. I spent some time in London many years ago when the Beatles
were hanging out there with studio recordings, etc. Showing my age but pleased
to be here. regards, Jim Hightower

Just
spent the last half hour reading and reminiscing about
our time/adventures in
Scheidegg.
Ya know, sometimes
I really miss that place, sometimes I shudder at
the memory. Good times though.
Maybe go back for a
visit some day, but as a guest, not an employee.

Long time no speak!
I know exactly what you mean. Your
message prompted me to have a read of our adventures...
so many emotions associated with that place, crikey...
I know exactly what you mean, shuddering and yet simultaneously
longing to take that trip down from the 4th floor to
the chocolate vending machine at the deserted, silent
railway station. Deserted that is except for Pedro
and a couple of other Portuguese...
Boy did we have some good times,
and hellish times. That place completely changed my
life in many ways (hey, it's because of our time there
that next month I'm starting a 4-year degree course
in Japanese studies!), I really am a stronger person
for the experience. Anyone working in the same building
as Mr. Eggen would be!!
If I ever make mega bucks I'll pay
for a load of us to get together and have a skiing
holiday there... somehow though I don't think it will
ever be quite the same again. For a start the cow-shed
where we held Cow-Hut Camp Fest has probably got a
padlock on it now.
Shit, I've just beeen looking through
the photos,
makes me feel so nostalgic. So many memories attached
to them all.
I think this one sums it up pretty
well though, along with the story that goes with it...

Take care Dan,
Till next time we meet
for a greasy Rosti mit speck und spiegelei!
