My
"Victory photo", taken from the rim of the crater
of the great volcano, Mount Yotei.
(Taken at 3.30am following a 4-hour solo climb by torchlight!)
|
The
view was not quite as stunning as I'd been led to believe!
Shortly after this was taken, the wind picked up and the
rain began to mercilessly lash down!
(See The
Daily Mumble for the full story)

Having
set the world record for the fastest desent of Mt. Yotei
in the pouring rain (1.5 hours, the guide books state
that it's 3 hours minimum), I made my way to the local
station, where this kind (batty) old lady fed me bread,
cake, rice and hot tea, before telling her son to drive
me home!

An
improvement in the weather yesterday saw me climb my local
mountain - although because of
post-volcano-climb-granny's-hip-syndrome I took the gondola
most of the way up!

This
week we had 60 university students staying for three nights
- no sleep for us what with the parties continuing until
5am! Still, some of those first year boys were pretty
cute when all dressed up...
